I had the pleasure of working with Verlene during my tenure as President of the Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME). Verlene volunteered her service as a representative of member company Dyno Nobel on several critical subcommittees and committees, including Vice Chair of the IMESAFR Subcommittee (quantitative risk assessment tool). Verlene’s technical expertise underpinned the decisions made by IME to the betterment of the greater explosives industry and the Institute’s safety and security mission. Not only do I greatly admire Verlene’s knowledge of explosives R&D and her expert standing in the industry, but also her strong, calm presence with unwavering values and her ability to instill confidence in others. Verlene is an asset to the IME and a treasure to other leaders, especially women leaders, in the explosives industry. It has been my honor to work with such a wonderful person through the past few years.
