Vedika joined NERA Economic Consulting as summer intern in 2017. I was Vedika’s mentor. Although Vedika came to NERA already well-versed in econometrics, both at a theoretical and an applied level, Vedika had limited experience with Stata as a data-wrangling tool. So I worked with Vedika on her Stata skills, and over the course of eight weeks I was genuinely impressed by her efforts, diligence, and progress. In fact, we worked on a couple projects together, and Vedika was able to use Stata to import and clean complex data for econometric analysis. At team meetings, Vedika actively listened, asked questions, and took copious notes. She did her research before every meeting. She read the facts of each case and came prepared with questions about the issues being litigated. I don’t recall an instance in which Vedika failed to show up at team meetings without pen and paper; sit in on team meetings without listening and taking notes; and leaving team meetings without following up with me or her director. I appreciated that. At a personal level, I find Vedika to be an emotionally intelligent, intellectually curious, and articulate person. While at NERA, Vedika always maintained a professional decorum and, to my knowledge, never had a harsh word to say about anyone. When she spoke, Vedika chose her words carefully; when she wrote, Vedika crafted sentences that were plain, concise, grammatical, and logically connected. Overall, it was my pleasure to mentor and work with Vedika over the summer.

Vedika worked with us as an intern over the summer. The primary focus of her work with us was developing a predictive model to identify optimal customer segments across different markets. She was very engaged with the work, offered valuable strategic insights, and was always looking for new ways to improve our processes. With her excellent analytical skills, eagerness to learn, and great interpersonal skills, I am certain she has a bright future ahead of her.
