After working with Morgan Sindall Underground Professional Services (today Morgan Sindall Engineering Solutions) as a senior design engineer in the last decade, now I would like to share my engineering knowledge and experience in the private market through my limited company. I have a wide range of experience obtained while working with major clients including National Grid, Thames Water, Crossrail and London Underground. I have been delivering design solution to Systra (previously TSP projects and Tata Steel Projects) on energy from waste plant projects. I was involved in Templeborough Biomass Plant and Avonmouth Energy Recovery Facility as the lead engineer. I currently also assist my previous company Morgan Sindall Engineering Solution as a part time contractor associate engineer. I delivered design and check solutions for various projects including Thames Tideway West, Acton Train Modification Unit, Werrington Grade Separation, Welsh Water Framework and many more. I am specialised in design of permanent works including shafts, tunnels, underground structures, shaft portals, shaft base slabs, foundations, roof slabs, etc. to British Standards, Eurocodes and design guidance provided by CIRIA, Highway Agency, Concrete Centre and BRE. Whitechapel and Liverpool Street Station Tunnels, Contract C510, Crossrail: Assessment of existing historical structures such as Hammersmith & City Underground Line and various listed buildings in central London due to tunnelling settlement and excessive batching plant loads. Delivering design solutions to protect the structures. CATIII check of geotechnical designs of subcontractors. I am also the lead design engineer managing all temporary works. Lee Tunnel, Thames Water: 20 m diameter and 75 m deep shaft base slab design using Plaxis and SAP2000. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) support for structures with complex geometry and unusual load conditions. Analysing vibration effect of extremely big pumps mounted on the permanent works. Brixton to Honor Oak Tunnel, Ring Main Extension, Thames Water: Project Design Engineer (PDE) managing all permanent and temporary works including M&E interface. 24 permanent and 29 temporary works designs. Also 46 check certificates validating subcontractors’ works. Croydon Cable Tunnel, National Grid: Permanent works designs such as head house foundations and large underground structures. Sefton Drive Detention Shaft, United Utilities: Lead design engineer managing all permanent works. Other tunnelling projects I was involved: - Hendon to Colindale Cable Adit Extension, National Grid.
