      - Investigate ultra-low frequency (ULF) waves in the magnetosphere using multiple data sources.- Developed methods using Python libraries including Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib to read and visualize large time series of HF radar data stored as .csv files, each containing approximately 500 thousand data points.- Implemented data exploration routines to analyze distributions of data for various parameters, and created filters to separate high quality data from noise.- Developed scripts in Jupyter Notebooks to analyze periodic patterns in non-uniformly sampled time series of radar observations, magnetometer readings, and satellite observations using methods such as resampling, digital filtering, Hilbert transforms, and wavelet transforms for time-frequency analysis.- Developed a set of functions that extract high resolution data from ``cells'' of data grouped by magnetic latitude and longitude, calculate the phase of signals in these cells, and apply regression techniques to understand phase evolution across cells.- Implemented scripts in MATLAB to determine the extent and type of polarization in magnetic field data observed by THEMIS and GOES satellites.- Analyzed SuperDARN, ground magnetometer, and satellite data to develop a case study that detailed solar wind conditions, magnetospheric conditions, and ULF wave activity on 01/07/2015. • DORT Project Researcher
      • Mar 2019 - May 2020

      - Conducted research in the detection and location of linear and non-linear scatterers using DORT, a method based on signal time-reversal, applied with pulse inversion (PI).- Implemented a MATLAB script that applied the PI-DORT algorithm on collected data. Used feature matching to estimate time of arrival of reflected signal, and DBSCAN clustering to cluster measurements from transmit-receive pairs and adjudge overall scatterer location.- Analyzed the method’s performance over many trials by inspecting distributions of predictions, and quantified variance in accuracy across various configurations of target environment.- Assisted in creating a Python GUI to interface with an oscilloscope, switchboard, and amplifier, allowing for automated data collection.- Verified via simulations in CST-MWS that DORT produced the necessary parameters (i.e. relative phases) to allow for beamforming towards a specified scatterer/target in a uniform medium.- Submitted a paper and presentation to the 2020 URSI North American Radio Science Conference. - Designed and tested an experimental DC-DC boost converter that takes low voltage (0.8 V) input from a set of thermoelectric generators and charges a battery at a stepped-up voltage (5 V). - Made design decisions including crucial IC and inductor selections. - Simulated the circuit in LT-SPICE, and constructed the circuit on a circuit board. - Evaluated circuit performance against various parallel and series configurations of input thermoelectric generations. - Implemented a low-voltage cut-off circuit that disconnects the supply from load when the supply voltage falls below a threshold, and integrated it with the boost converter. Verified circuit operation using lab equipment. Show less
