Lead Pediatric Hematology Oncology Registered Nurse

I help my children and their families navigate through the most vulnerable times of their lives through education, advocacy, and patient care. Over my 7 years at Mount Sinai, I have been fortunate enough to watch many of my children survive, thrive, grow up and developed close relationships with their families, as I influence and train many of our nurses in the fundamentals of care and healing. I always tell my husband, "Nursing is a calling and is part of who I am..." My ultimate goal is to ensure my patients are able to grow up to be able to follow their dreams.Registered nurse at the pediatric hematology oncology outpatient clinicCertified APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy Provider: Active BCLS Certified: Active status PALS Certified Active member of The American Nurses AsscociationActive APHON member since 2011Active NYSNA member since 2010

Pediatric Hematology Oncology RN, BSN

Oct 2008 - Aug 2010
During my time at Memorial Sloan Kettering I expanded my pediatric clinic knowledge to understanding the the complex and high medical acuity of pediatric bone marrow transplantation. Navigating through their treatment plans with a multidisciplinary team I was able to truly understand the level of care needed to help my patients through their most vulnerable time in their lives. As their registered nurse I was able to bridge the gap for my patients to the medical team advocate for their best interest. My relationships with my patients and families at Memorial Sloan Kettering has helped me grow into the nurse I am today.

In 2008 my husband and I relocated from California to New York City. I wanted to expand my knowledge base and work for a well respected private practice in New York City. Working with a smaller patient client base I was able to not only understand general pediatric nursing but the business administration side of nursing in a private practice setting. At UCLA Medical Center I built my foundation in pediatric nursing. UCLA invested in my professional and educational growth as a registered nurse. I graduated from their Clinical New Grad program and trained with highly experienced nurses and physicians. Working with the multidisciplinary team I was fortunate to work in a few different clinical areas at UCLA Medical Center. I worked in the organ transplant unit, pediatric step down intensive care unit, and the pediatric oncology hematology unit. It was there I found my passion for the pediatric oncology population.
