I had the privilege of managing Vanessa twice, both when she was the Monetization Product Manager and Community Lead at Top.gg where I was the CEO and during our time together at Metatheory where she was the Platform Product Manager and I was the CPO. Vanessa has a unique combination of sharp product sense, leadership skills, attention to detail and a technical background from her CS coursework and founder/ solo developer of Mimu (one of Discord’s top 30 bots). This, combined with her user empathy, reliability, and community building expertise makes her an incredible asset to have on any team. Vanessa has been an amazing PM to manage and teammate to work with – she takes her time to meticulously understand the product, the business, the ecosystem and market and most importantly the users. Her empathy and advocacy for users is inspiring and infectious in the best way possible. She asks sharp and thoughtful questions and gives constructive feedback to ensure that the team is aligned to build the best product possible. She’s proactive and hardworking and goes above and beyond to always deliver results and step in to fill any gaps a team might be missing. She’s action oriented and gets shit done and is not afraid to get her hands dirty. I’m lucky to have met Vanessa at the beginning of her product career and can’t wait to see where she decides to take it. I hope that we have the opportunity to work together again soon – I’d hire her over and over again.

As a Product Manager at Metatheory, I have successfully managed launches by leading a team of 10 engineers and designers from research and discovery, to design and implementation, to launch. Utilizing my skills in evaluating success metrics, I set team goals based on data analysis, market research, and usability studies. One of my notable achievements was collaborating with cross-functional partners to launch "The Hatchening," an interactive Web3 experience in November 2022. Utilizing my skills in evaluating success metrics, I set team goals based on data analysis, market research, and usability studies. One of my notable achievements was collaborating with cross-functional partners to launch "The Hatchening," an interactive Web3 experience in November 2022. This launch resulted in a significant increase in user retention and daily active users (DAU), with up to 8x growth during the first week and sustained DAU by up to 3x post-launch. I conducted over 20 user research protocol interviews to evaluate our existing product strategy and provide market research on upcoming MVPs. I also worked closely with my team to enhance the user onboarding flow and web3 onboarding, significantly reducing friction and improving the overall user experience. I worked with the team to rewrite our launcher from Flutter to Electron, allowing improved user adoption and streamlined the onboarding funnel. Throughout my career, I have also had the opportunity to mentor a junior product manager within the Games team, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth. These experiences have honed my skills in team leadership and collaborative problem-solving.
