      Having led a number of Technical Projects to implement new manufacturing technology at Hallmark, the challenge was to build this into a single team capable of delivering the required service as sole supplier to the UK print and manufacturing site. In order to provide this service, built a Pre-Production Department comprising of:• 6 direct reports, 65 indirect reports• Accountability within Print for: Reprographics, 3D Design, Sheet Planning, and Plate-making• Accountability within Engineering for: CNC engraving, milling, laser cutting and steel forming• Defined and agreed Service level Agreements with all internal customers as a baseline for Continuous Improvement• Developed robust KPIs and reporting procedures for all areas• Implemented Health & Safety and preventative maintenance procedures across the facility. Accountable for staffing, budget management, capital expenditure, work scheduling, resource planning and ensuring ‘right first time’ supply of all printing plates and tooling needed to complete the finished greeting card, gift wrap and packaging products.As a passionate people developer, utilised the Lominger methodology to produce personal development and career progression plans, coaching and mentoring staff throughout their development journey.       The Technology Director defined projects to increase speed to market and reduce heavy reliance on 3rd party suppliers. In many cases there wasn’t precedent in the UK so was required to undertake initial research & development before partnering with external suppliers which required working in Europe, China, USA and Canada. A selection of key projects delivered:• Developed an inter-company web-based workflow to deliver a digital ‘job bag’ to world wide manufacturing partners; lead-time reduced from 1 week to 1 day• Designed an automatic system for building virtual 3D models of new products, reducing manufacturing queries from 20% to <1%• Internalised die production via CNC engraving; the first in Europe to use environmentally friendly CNC engraving (compared to chemical etching) for 100% of Die manufacture• Internalised Cutting Forme manufacture annual savings of £500k• Developed a unique method of re-purposing hand engraved dies, earning a US patent and a letter of commendation from the President of Hallmark Cards.
