I line managed Vanessa at Bedfordshire Police in her role as Head of Learning & Development. Vanessa impressed me with her ability to think at a strategic level to ensure all L & D initiatives would support and further the Force's aims and objectives, whilst instilling in staff and officers the skills necessary to perform their duties competently and confidently. At times, managing such a shift in the L & D culture was challenging however, Vanessa used her influencing, persuading & negotiating skills effectively to take initiatives forward. Vanessa also fully understood the concept of ROI and applied this to her work area to ensure resources were used wisely and to demonstrate value to the Force. This message was cascaded across her respective teams to ensure consistency of approach. Vanessa has a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience as well as a number of personal qualities to offer and would be an asset to any organization.
