I led the Growth Engineering team and built signup experiences that integrate into SalesForce and run ML models for underwriting potential customers. We onboarded over 25,000 customers using this process. I led the Infrastructure Engineering team. My teams used Ruby on Rails, React, Typescript and Postgres stack. We used Heroku for hosting and we had continuous integration and deployment into production. Show less

New York, United States I led engineering teams on News Feed, the largest product on Facebook that 3 billion people use. Responsible for performance (how fast is Feed), reliability (how often does Feed crash), efficiency (how many servers are being used to generate Feed) and engagement of Feed (how much are people interacting with Feed). Responsible for performance (how fast is Feed), reliability (how often does Feed crash), efficiency (how many servers are being used to generate Feed) and engagement of Feed (how much are people interacting with Feed). My teams built highly visible products including feed controls, favorites, and a broader set of changes to News Feed. My teams also saved over $2 billion in infrastructure costs by making News Feed systems more efficient. My teams were diverse in their tech stack and skillset. We worked on iOS app (Objective C), Android app (Java), web backend (PHP/Hack) and ranking engine (C++). Supported the careers of the managers and engineers that reported to me by helping them grow, giving them opportunities to work on impactful projects, providing timely and critical feedback and giving them care. I coordinated with other engineering teams as well as cross functional teams such as product management, design, user experience and research to deliver projects successfully and in an impactful manner. AQR was borrowing about $100 billion from investment banks for trading purposes and my team and I built systems to balance risk (borrowing too much from one bank) and cost (borrowing from cheapest sources). I collaborated with the Portfolio Finance business to build applications that help the firm optimize banking financing relationships, efficiently distribute broker balances, and replicate the custom Margin and Financing methodologies that banks had. The tech stack was C#, .NET Core, Angular and SQL Server. It was running on Windows machines hosted on-prem. I containerized the stack and ran it on linux in AWS. My value add was in delivering high quality long term solutions, building careers of people in my team, gathering requirements, doing project planning, designing and architecting systems, and managing production issues. I managed engineering teams in New York, London, Budapest and Mumbai and gained experience in effectively managing teams remotely and in multiple time zones. I started as an engineer and grew into a tech lead and then into a manager role. As an engineer, I built systems for client onboarding, KYC checks, approval workflows and account opening. As an engineering manager, I partnered with various business units including Risk Management, CVA desk/strats, Legal & Compliance, Collateral Operations, and Document Negotiators to solve complex business problems, deliver regulatory projects, and enable business opportunities in the Counterparty risk management space. I managed technology teams that develop server side systems in Java and web applications in HTML5/JavaScript using Angular. I created technical and architectural strategies that are aligned to the business and the market. Show less
