Since knowing Valerio, he has been an excellent ethnographer and regional expert with a superb theoretical and analytical grasp of his field and beyond. I always appreciated his feedback as experienced colleague in social anthropology, which informed the early stages of my doctoral research. In the present, I regularly use his research for teaching: it is innovative, accessibly presented and offers much space for conversation.
