When I met her that summer, I was taken immediately by her quick intelligence and sincere devotion to her project on entrepreneurship in Southern Italy and its link to Italian immigration to the United States. Since then, I have been present as she delivered a paper on a similar topic at the annual Italian American Studies conference in Toronto in October 2014, where she attended as a winner of a prestigious IASA Travel Grant Award. Her paper was extremely well received, with much discussion afterwards, and those in attendance were equally impressed by this promising Italian scholar.
