Bio
Dmitrii Rabusov
Whenever I think of Vadim, the phrase "an extremely productive individual and scientist" comes to my mind. It is a pleasure to write a recommendation letter for him. We've been working together in a relatively small group during our doctoral studies at the Technical University of Darmstadt (TUD) under the supervision of the same professor (Oliver Boine-Frankenheim) for approximately four years. During these years we've been sharing the same office at GSI (Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research) as guest researchers and having numerous amount of coffee-break discussions. Vadim has not only a deep understanding of collective effects in accelerators which is his current topic, but also he has solid technical skills in Python/C++ coding, LATEX, GPU etc. Whenever I got stuck in my research/coding, a quick discussion with Vadim helped me to find a solution. I know him as a person with strong analytical skills. His scientific-writing skills (structure-wise, language-wise) definitely are on the top level. This is clearly reflected in his scientific publications and his dissertation, where you can find a good combination of analytical, numerical, and experimental approaches to study instabilities in hadron machines. Vadim is not only a brilliant scientist but also a good friend. He has many hobbies including sports activities and reading. During our lunch discussions, he explained to me and our colleagues many things about politics, the economy, investments, and linguistics. This shows him as a person who can not only study complicated topics but also who can explain them in simple words. I’ve enjoyed my experience working with Vadim, and I know that anyone looking to hire or work with him will, too.

After defending my master thesis, I had a two weeks long stay in HZDR with the accelerator physics group working on ELBE Free Electron Laser (FEL) injection optimization (with PAMELA code) as a part of applying for a PhD position there. (I've declined the position offer) After defending my master thesis, I had a two weeks long stay in HZDR with the accelerator physics group working on ELBE Free Electron Laser (FEL) injection optimization (with PAMELA code) as a part of applying for a PhD position there. As a part of my Master thesis, I was part-time working on The Novosibirsk Free Electron Laser (NovoFEL) control system (EPICS) automatisation. I developed automated scripts that maximise the performance of the undulators and it was tested during several parasitic beamtimes. I did a short internship at the laboratory of high magnetic fields and low temperatures (Now part of the Institute of Low Temperatures and Structure Research). I was assisting in the experiments that studied the magnetoelectric effect and learned a lot about superconductivity.
