Highly professional is what comes to mind when I think about Ute. I had the pleasure of working with her on the topic of multilingualism, collaborating on different projects. She is an empathic professional with extensive knowledge and passion. I also admire her ability to juggle multiple projects (like Raising Multilinguals Live and many others) and this is something you can only develop through experience, which she has! I would recommend Ute to any family raising their kids with multiple languages, or simply wanting to deepen this matter. Ute is the go-to professional if you are looking for clarity, strategies and lots of inspiration for your multilingual journey. Thank you Ute for our collaborations!

Working with Ute is always a pleasure, she is a true professional who acts proactively. She is highly skilled and knowledgeable in the intercultural field. She shares useful insights with our workshop participants and helps new international employees of TU Delft and their partners to understand how The Netherlands is organized and what they can expect of working with the Dutch.

PEaCH was an Erasmus+ funded Project (2019-2021), and PEaCH stands for "Preserving and promoting Europe's cultural and linguistic heritage through empowerment of bilingual children and families". I co-authored the Guide for Parents "How to Raise a Bilingual Child", translated into different languages and available for free on the website https://bilingualfamily.eu/resources-for-parents/, and collaborated at the creation of an online collection of language materials in all the 24 official EU languages (available on the site) as well as the Youtube channel and Spotify list. The Project is now in its second phase, hence "PEaCH2". More details will follow. Show less

    • Multilingual Language & Communication Consultant & Trainer
      • Jan 2014 - Present

I help internationals connect and communicate effectively across cultures and languages. I support those who live in an international environment:– navigate linguistic and cultural differences successfully– avoid misunderstandings– adapt quickly As an Intercultural Language Consultant I help :– internationals become internationally fluent, i.e. make sure that they're understood and that they understand others. – Speaking the same language is no guarantee for mutual understanding.– international families maintain their home/heritage languages whilst becoming fluent in the local/community language and culture. I help them find the right strategies and support for their children who grow up with multiple languages and cultures. – Children don't become bi- or multilingual by magic, they are not "sponges", and they acquire and learn languages at their very own pace and deserve person tailored support!– teachers/educators communicate effectively with families from diverse cultural and linguistic background. In my Intercultural Communication Trainings, I provide advice, resources and a skill set to enhance intercultural awareness and communication. What is common sense for one person, might not be so for the other one, what seems natural to one, can be not acceptable, rude, or offensive for others. Especially when working and living in an international environment, we may speak the same language (English or the community language), but we all use it in very different ways that can lead to unwanted misunderstandings. My Trainings & Workshops give cross-cultural insights for internationals arriving to the Netherlands (and on demand: Germany, Italy or Switzerland).More information on my site: http://www.UtesInternationalLounge.com Show less

    • Language Trainer and Consultant
      • Feb 1992 - Present

My passion for languages, for language learning and research about language acquisition, learning and maintenance brought me to teach languages (mainly German, Italian and French)"Adults can acquire language the same way children do." – This is why in my language trainings I adopt a more natural approach to language "learning".Since more than 30 years I give German, Italian and French Language lessons that include culture training, following my very own method.Every learner is different: I help find out what kind of combination of visual-auditive-kinetic learner my students are, what topics they're more passionate about and what their learning goals are. I tailor my language lessons to the personal need of my students/trainees:Some want to learn / acquire the language from scratch, others want to improve their skills or prepare for meetings, conferences, talks etc. My fluency in 6 languages and in-depth linguistic knowledge of some dialects and other languages I'm still learning, allows me to have a very natural and broad approach to language teaching and learning. I combine my teaching knowledge with coaching skills and my lifelong experience of using and fostering multiple languages.I also help advanced students prepare for interviews, talks, speeches, conferences, meetings etc.You can always contact me at info@UtesInternationalLounge.com Show less

Show less
