My project involved molecular, phenotypic and functional characterisation of IL-17+ CD8+ T cells in the context of psoriatic arthritis. In relation to this project my project involved:- Being up to date with clinical immunology research pertaining to rheumatology and dermatology, with a focus on psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.- Attending conferences such as BSI congress and EULAR, and delivering presentations (oral and poster) - Phlebotomist for healthy volunteers- Processing peripheral blood from healthy volunteers and peripheral blood and synovial fluid from patients with PsA, SpA and RA- Flow cytometry (ICCS and FACS sorting), qPCR, ELISA, Luminex - Cell culture - Optimising culture conditions - Optimising new assays e.g. cytokine capture assay, T cell/ Fibroblast assays - Cell Trace Violet proliferation assays - Mononuclear cell, monocyte and T cell isolations from peripheral blood and synovial fluid - Fibroblast and mononuclear cell isolation from synovial tissueOther extra-curricular responsibilities included:- Sole founder and manager of the lab Twitter account @Taams_Lab; created by myself to improve social networking between immunologists, 180 followers within 7 months (2017-2018)- PhD representative for the divisional Athena SWAN (gender equality charter) committee (2015-2018)- Member of British Society for Immunology Editorial Advisory Board (2015-2018)- Member of the 2015 Organising Committee for the Annual KCL DIIID/DTIMB PhD Symposium - responsible for organising this internal symposium event Show less
