I have been supporting these students in both academic and pastoral aspects since Year 8; they are now preparing for their GCSEs in Year 11. I have introduced initiatives to improve student support by working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Departments and parents and carers.

  For 5 years, I have taught English Literature and Language to Key Stage 3 and 4 students of mixed ability. In Key Stage 3, the students are exposed to diverse and challenging texts, which provides a strong foundation for the required GCSE skills. I support Key Stage 4 students in their academic writing and encourage a curiosity in the writers’ methods and contexts in which texts were written. Furthermore, I am a confident teacher of A Level English Literature, which includes a range of prose, poetry and drama.

  I was involved in administrative work and raising awareness for the Naitika project, which aims to provide employment opportunities for women in Ahmedabad who have been affected by domestic violence. We set up pop up stalls to sell Naitika products in London and the money raised was sent directly back to the women’s cooperative to continue the skills training, maintain the safe working conditions and a provide a fair working wage.
