I met Urvashi Barua in November 2016, when we flew her out to our headquarters in Portland, Oregon, to do a week’s worth of contract work for us. We were shorthanded and needed someone who could jump in immediately and both write and anchor our one-minute news videos. Because our 3.4 million followers on Facebook and YouTube are based largely outside the United States, we also needed an anchor who would be credible delivering serious news to an international audience. Based on her reel and our conversations, Urvashi was our unanimous choice. She did not disappoint. I was impressed with her skills, professionalism, on-camera presence and drive. She is a journalist who is going places. I regret that we did not have a longer-term engagement for her, but she helped us through a rough spot, and I will always appreciate her for that.

Urvashi Barua brings enthusiasm to everything that she does. During her time at the New York Film Academy I watched her first attain, then develop her journalism skills. It is rare indeed for a student to become an accredited White House journalist, then accompany the President of the United States to an international summit.
