  Commitment to union values and supporting a strong and inclusive public education system through advising on and conducting individual and collective employment, discrimination and human rights law matters for members in the education sector. Integral role in the Industrial legal team providing specialist, technical and strategic advice primarily on employment and discrimination matters in relation to all areas of the education sector, including early childhood, schools, higher education, disability and adult education. Assisting on a wide range of matters including advocating and drafting submissions in support of individual employment matters (including disciplinary, performance, termination, renewal of teaching registration and working with children clearance checks) and significant and sensitive litigation in Commissions, Courts and Tribunals and briefing external firms and at times directly briefing Counsel. Advocacy work, including representing the Union in the Fair Work Commission, Equal Opportunity Commissions and Victorian State Education Boards (Merit Protection and Disciplinary Appeals). Providing advice and support on other matters (eg Workplace injuries and OH&S, FOI, privacy, administrative law, Ombudsman complaints, and other matters). Show less
