I had the pleasure of working with Umut at Cellarity Inc. (a biotech venture launched by Flagship Pioneering). Umut is simply all you can ask from a mentor. He is always supportive of innovative and creative ideas and is full of brilliant ones himself. He always made himself available to discuss technical and scientific problems, and was very willing to share with me valuable lessons that he has learned the hard way over the years. Umut is highly knowledgeable and experienced in deep learning and has a great understanding of machine learning and neural networks. I learned a lot from him during our brief encounter, lessons that will be highly valuable in my academic and professional life.
