Logistics: I was responsible for helping teams of sales reps have the needed items and instruments to meet our accounts needs for day to day surgeries. Personally I made sure to make the most of limited resources to meet our sales reps needs, this included solving problems by having multiple cases in close proximity, and utilizing communication to meet all of our needs. Personally I made sure to make the most of limited resources to meet our sales reps needs, this included solving problems by having multiple cases in close proximity, and utilizing communication to meet all of our needs. Creativity was critical as sometimes we had to use inventory from different territories to meet doctors needs, this allowed us to maximize profits by not having to expend a lot of financial capital. Inventory Management: Medical devices companies have many moving parts, it is essential to keep a detailed ledger of where the items are and when they will be used. Not only must the items be used but many items have an expiration date. This means that certain products must be expedited to use in the field. If not costly fees would be levied. In addition to expiration, specific lot numbers had to be tracked to guard against product recalls. Purchasing: As the point person for the sales reps, I was responsible for the purchasing of products to keep on hand and I had to determine the correct par levels for a given product dependent on demand. In our industry each distributor is responsible for consignment fees, which is the total cost to have items in their inventory, that is why is critical to keep only products that can be turned over in a timely manner. Scheduling: Dealing with teams of highly competitive sales reps that are driving sales, can be a difficult task that requires organization and planning. I was responsible for handling 20 individual reps case loads and making sure all of the needed implants and instruments were available for their cases. Proper scheduling allowed for cost cutting by having a well designed plan to keep shipping cost down, and minimize drive times of our reps, to help them have more time devoted to selling our products. I would assist in day to day operations ranging from office tasks such as working with Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel as well as prepare and assist in practice. I also helped set up office hours for other student managers and made sure they were aware of when and where practice was and what needed to be done before practice started. I also helped in game day operations by directing opposing teams shoot arounds at the PNC Arena. In addition to shoot arounds I would make sure locker rooms were set up for both our team, visiting team, and officials. In preparations for our upcoming games I would do statistical charts on Excel to help prepare our team. I would also help make sure everything was stored and packed for our road trips to opposing teams. Also on road trips I was responsible for making sure all players and managers were aware of the team itinerary and in the correct location at the correct time. I also learned how to manage big events as I assisted with summer basketball camps where I was responsible for making sure we had clocks, score keepers, officials, and game ball at 10 separate courts for our annual team basketball camps in which there was over 1,000 campers and coaches. Throughout the camp I also worked closely with our athletic trainers to assist them in making sure a handful of injured campers were taking to the proper medical facility for treatment. In additions to the above responsibilities for our camps I also helped with the marketing of the camps. I printed brochures and contacted local Elementary, Middle, and High Schools to receive permission to have our brochures placed in lobbies and mailed to their students. This helped me gain experience as related to my Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing.
