    • Construction Intern
      • May 2009 - Aug 2009

Assisted Project Managers and Field Crews with day-to-day operations and field reports for the construction of the Hood Canal Floating Bridge with Kiewit (Formerly General Construction). Activities included assisting Engineer of Record in measuring and documenting ballast material stored within the floating concrete pontoons, digitizing project documents and coordinating processes involved with stressing steel tendons that connected individual pontoons into a large inter-connected bridge. This internship allowed me to gain knowledge of the civil side of the construction industry on a very unique project, whereas much of my previous experience was in the commercial end of the industry. I was able to learn the meticulous processes involved with a large infrastructure project and see how the day-to-day activities had to be coordinated efficiently to ensure that the 100+ field and office personnel were able to meet strict project deadlines while overcoming on-site unforeseen conditions via collaboration and unique problem solving.
