Through the Community Service Center (CSC), I was a Project Manager through the academic year. The CSC links the energy, expertise, and innovation of the University of Oregon with the planning and public policy needs of Oregon communities. From January through June, I supervised a team of four first-year graduate students as we worked on a project centered around innovation districts. During seasonal breaks, I have worked at the University of Portland via Bon Appetit. I have held positions as a prep and line cook, a bartender, and catering services. As with any food service position, working at the University of Portland has always assisted in establishing a benchmark for successful collaborative work filled with strong communication amongst a team, trust, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Working for Bon Appetit over the last 6 years has been one of the more rewarding and insightful experiences I've been fortunate enough to have. Show less

      • Jun 2017 - Sep 2017

I served as the Unit Counselor and Inclusion Director during the summer. Scheduling was a key aspect of this position, working closely with other directors to ensure we were fully staffed each week of camp. This position required leading trainings for first-year staff members and providing feedback to ensure the greatest amount of growth occurred. The aspect of providing resources for a more inclusive space at camp was very rewarding. Our inclusion program matched a counselor to be one-on-one with a camper and support them for the week, modifying and clarifying for the camper as necessary. Show less

YMCA Camp Collins provides one of the most sought-after summer experiences in the state of Oregon. In the summer of 2015, I was a cabin counselor within the middle school unit, referred to as the Questor unit. I was able to facilitate my own cabin numerous times through the on-site ropes course for teambuilding, while also participating in various camp activities and leading camp-oriented chapel service. I worked at the Hollywood Farmer's Market from the latter portion of the spring into the latter portion of the fall during my 8 years as a vendor. I worked at one stand during this time (Happy Harvest Farm), which sold local berries and produce harvested from Mt. Angel, OR. This was my neighborhood farmer's market, and I was able to craft strong relationships with a variety of community members. Similar to my experience at the University of Portland, working at Bon Appetit while attending Colorado College assisted in providing relevant work experience to any position. I was tasked with prepping brunch services during the weekends while also supporting catering events and other meals. The Hillsdale Farmer's Market took place on Sundays.
