Tullio did his PhD in my lab during 2013-2015. We was a superb PhD student in many different ways. He was very independent, always asked critical questions, was able to think outside the box, and worked very hard. His efforts have resulted in several studies that have significantly moved the field of climate change effects on marine soundscapes and fish audition forward, and he has published his work in several high-impact journals. Tullio is a fast learner, meticulous and tenacious. He doesn't give up until his goal is reached. Besides his scientific strengths he is also a true team-player, always willing to help others and great to have in the lab. He is also very good at presenting his work - at conferences, in writing, and as a scientific illustrator. He has made some great outreach videos of his work and is also a superb graphic designer. I can highly recommend him as a post-doctoral researcher and science communicator.
