Developed a cooperative beat 'em up PC game in a team of 6 artists and 12 programmers. 'Twinlight Souls' tells the story of two light creatures saving their magical forest from the corruption of an ancient spirit. My main responsibility was creating enemy characters, from early design stages to the final result. Working from concepts and references, I blocked-out the shapes and sculpted them to create high poly models in ZBrush. I optimized their topology to low poly counts in 3Ds Max and baked those details into maps. I then textured the realtime characters in Substance Painter and tested them in Marmoset Toolbag. Using a combination of Maya and 3Ds Max CAT, I created animations such as idles, run cycles and attacks. Throughout the entire process, I assisted with engine implementation by providing multiple iterations of the models, textures and animations. We employed agile methodology, alternating SCRUM masters and groups for every vertical slice of project development. This approach enabled faster workflows and a clear understanding of progress despite our remote collaboration for most of the year. Most importantly, it trained me in the industry standard of teamwork and communication. The programmers created our 'Little Orion' game engine from scratch, and thus certain artistic limitations were imposed, unlike working in Unity or Unreal. This pushed us to optimize our pipeline for maximum potential. My most notable contribution was the integration of CAT rigs into the engine, which allowed for procedural, reusable animations and greatly reduced production time.
