Jan 2011 - Jun 2012
I worked part time as a medical officer to gain clinical experience in the Plastic Surgery and General Hospital. My responsibilities included evaluating for patients by history taking, physical examinations, laboratory workups, and making diagnoses. As the medical officer, I admitted and managed patients in the Emergency Department and updated the attending physician about the patient’s history, clinical findings, and medical reports. I rounded on patients admitted to the ward, instructing the staff on carrying out orders properly and working as a team to make sure the patients received proper care. I ensured that labs were completed and inform the physician of any abnormalities. Also, I was involved in significant public health promotion and disease prevention programs in which I evaluated medical research and identified causes or sources of various diseases. I learned how to do EKGs, use defibrillators, and perform incision and drainage procedures.
