Outreach Ministries Coordinator
-
Oct 2012 - Aug 2016
As the Outreach Ministries Coordinator of the Columbus, OH Salvation Army, my job is to build a relational bridge between The Salvation Army Citadel, other churches in the immediate area, and the surrounding community in an effort to find the needs of Columbus and meet them in addition to sharing the work of Jesus Christ both in and out of our churches. Other responsibilities include: •Leading a contemporary worship band. •Hosting a free Open Gym from 6 pm-8 pm on Tuesdays for teens and adults. •Assitinh with the planning and leading of our teen group, "The Wild". •Connecting with the Adult Rehabilitation Center and including them in the Open Gym on Tuesday evenings to connect the men who reside there with officers around the area. •Maintain involvement as the secretary (I generally just take the minutes and update the website) of the Northland Church Leaders which is an ecumenical group of committed pastors and lay leaders. The goal was to work together to tackle different community issues every month of every year pushing the gospel when we could. Visit www.NorthlandChurchLeaders.com for more information on that. •Organize various public fundraising and networking efforts. I have collaborated with musical talent for overnight teen "lock-ins", organized and led seasonal community festivals, performed at Open Mic nights in Columbus, and more. In my experience, the success of either of these can be counted as small steps with big aspirations. I would love to see my particular church group become intimately involved in the affairs of outreach and allow me to delegate as the Coordinator and that with every passing year in which these efforts are made, the community becomes increasingly invested in what we do. Youth Worker
-
2010 - 2012
My job as a Youth Worker for the Salvation Army was to develop, maintain, and plan both outreach and discipleship programs for children and teens. This included, but wasn't limited to, Sunday School lessons, faith-based after-school programs using Salvation Army discipleship curriculum, weekly juvenile detention center visits at the North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center, men's bible study, contemporary worship band, community-wide outreach events, and small devotions during soup kitchens. I first performed this task in Marion, OH and then in Delaware, OH. Show less

Drummer
-
Jun 2007 - Aug 2008
I played the role of the drummer in a small Christian rock band known as Unbroken. We won 4/6 Battle of the Band competitions we participated in. Only slightly successful though it did add enough fuel to my passion for playing live music to last me the rest of my life. I learned a lot about people and a little about professionalism as a percussionist for a band and I am thankful I had the opportunity to do something like that. I'm excited about the next try.
