Responsible for drafting the Heads of the Official Languages (Amendment) Bill 2017 and worked closely with senior colleagues and the OPC on the development of the Official Langauges (Amendment) Act, 2021. On the operational side, the Irish Language Policy Unit funds 43 universities abroad to teach the Irish language, manages the Advanced Irish Language Skills Initiative and supports a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver exciting and innovative Irish language initiatives e.g. - Clár Techspace, TechFéile with Kinia; Gaillimh le Gaeilge, Gnó Mhaigh Eo, BÁC le Gaeilge, - Cartlann Athbheochan na Gaeilge with Conradh na Gaeilge; - Foclóir Stairiúil na Gaeilge with the Royal Irish Academy; - Abair.ie with Trinity College Dublin; - Fáilte ar líne - Fiontar agus Scoil na Gaeilge, DCU; - TEG - Maynooth University; - Internship scheme for translators with various institutions of the European Union; - Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe - the national Irish language theatre.
