Music Teacher

Aug 2019 - Present
Music Teacher for students K-5 at urban and at-risk charter school in central Jersey City. As the only music teacher in the school, I work with all 700+ students at the elementary school teaching general music and beginning instrumental lessons for grades 4 and 5. I also work with students at the BelovED middle and high school (grades 6-9) for an after school choir club. Students are taught music literacy, music appreciation, music history, music composition, and many other skills through self-created curriculum.

Customer Service Representative
-
May 2017 - Jun 2019
As a CSR, I am in charge of keeping the checkout department running as smoothly as possible. This entails helping cashiers with any problems and questions as well as doing price checks for customers when an item has no barcode or scans incorrectly. Furthermore, I make sure that daily maintenance is done throughout the store. The CSR also keeps track of the schedule and makes sure that each cashier is going to break on time and makes sure that the cashiers are sent at the most convenient time to prevent a buildup of customers at checkout and prevent a shortage of carriages in the vestibule.

Front Desk Clerk
-
May 2017 - Jun 2019
As a Front Desk Clerk, I oversee everything at the service desk. This includes selling lottery tickets, doing MoneyGram and Money Orders, cashing checks, and assisting customers with refunds, returns, exchanges, and all other customer problems. I also answer phone calls and page them to the correct department or person, or answer the questions they have. When closing the desk, I am in charge of keeping each register at the proper cash amount in the drawer and doing a sweep to collect the money. I also do change orders for registers and respond to problems the cashiers may have.

Youth Band Secton Leader
-
Sep 2016 - Nov 2018
As a New Hampshire Youth Band Section Leader, I helped the flute students learn their band parts in weekly sectionals. We warm up, and then discuss which pieces are difficult, and work on them. Students are also all free to audition for solos, and are typically split into flute 1 and 2, usually based on grade level, but also on ability. Flute Teacher
-
Feb 2016 - May 2016
At the North Hampton school, I taught 6th and 7th grade flute lessons. This included helping students through band pieces, as well as establishing good posture, practicing habits, and teaching beginning theory. Students also struggled with note reading without writing in notes, so time was spent each lesson in doing short note identifying worksheets.
