Worked as a research assistant to Dr Reza Abdolee at Cal State Channel Islands. I worked to identify existing encryption algorithms that were suitable for modification to make them more secure. The end goal was to develop algorithms that were lightweight enough to be used by the devices with low computing power that make up the bulk of the IoT. I was chosen to participate in a program that would send undergraduate students to Switzerland to work at the Large Hadron Collider. I spent from August 2019 to May 2020 undergoing training to work at the LHC. My role was going to be as a research assistant to help design and maintain the computer systems used in the various experiments ongoing at the LHC. I was trained in the usage of C++ and the Root framework to build systems to scientifically analyze the large amounts of data produced by the ongoing experiments at the LHC. The trip to Switzerland would have been from June to August 2020 but was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. Show less
