  Before a military move, I was an assistant principal. In that role, I demonstrated proper teaching methods and procedures to staff, participated in recruitment, screening, selection and orientation of instructional and non-instructional staff, and assisted with and lead professional development/staff activities. In addition, I assisted with student discipline, coordinated staff and substitute assignments, and assisted with coordination and care of school resources: finance, materials of instruction, equipment and physical plant. I helped to maintain effective communications with parents, parent groups, civic associations and other community resources and assisted with the supervision of student activities and co-curricular programs during and beyond the school day. Helping with scheduling students for appropriate classes and participating in the planning, management and financing of student and community relations activities were other roles I participated in. Assist the principal in the administration of the school operating budget. Help with curriculum development, research study groups and committees as assigned. Finally, I would perform classroom/instruction observations as required and conduct informal group discussions with teachers concerning educational programs, student progress and appraisals. Coordinating programs to meet specific needs of the school and modeling appropriate and professional behavior in interactions with all members of the school community were supplemental roles I achieved.
