I am a Masters student in the Applied Forest and Wildlife Ecology Lab at Michigan State University and am documenting the occurrence of golden-winged warblers and wood turtles and their habitat use on privately owned timber harvest lands in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. My research will go on to help guide policies and decisions made by the US Fish and Wildlife Service regarding land management in areas where these rare species occur.
