Every night since 1964, we walk the streets from 10PM - 4AM. We hear people's stories -- their sorrows and their joys. We relate to people through our shared humanity. We offer crisis counseling and referral services and basic needs, like socks, blankets, food, and hand sanitizer. We give people space to grieve their losses and share their aspirations. We remind people that healthy human relating is possible. Night Ministry meets people where they are. We do not convert or judge. We simply listen and love. These simple acts of showing up, connecting and offering our full attention to people often bring a sense of peace, of being seen, and of being heard. They uplift people who society frequently dehumanize or mostly ignore. Such presence ignites hope in a person's spirit that they can take the next positive step in their lives. Our values and purpose are rooted in affirming everyone’s experience regardless of their sexuality, their identity, their beliefs or their preference to avoid belief systems. Show less
