Democracy "Internprenuer" Project Director

Gloria's campaign's focus was on economic injustice; Gloria wanted to fill the gaps in our economic system where captialism has made them. Her campaign was centered around youth-young adults and teaching them that they are the owners of their own intellectual property which is a form of captial. -Through the Democracy "Internpreneur" Program in her campaign, we took both highschool and college students and showed them what it meant to be in charge of their own intellectual property. As the director of the program I find students who were looking for internships and allowed them to use whatever skills or knowledge they had to better inhance the campaign. -Ex. We had some students in the Arts, so we let those student come up with campaign marketing strateries and materials for the campaign. Students who were studying biology got to help form possible legislation in the area they wanted to research. So, our students on the pre-pharmacy track who saw issues with the way the FDA or laws about medicine, they got to help craft possible solutions to the issues they saw and work alongside other students who also had a passion for the issue and with Gloria, the candidate. -My job was to direct the program, find the students and sit down with them a create a plan for there intership: making goals, plans and outlines with the students to see how their internship journey would take place. -I made individual contact with each student every two weeks to make sure they were on track -I helped them find their place on the campaign: placing them with whoever they needed to be in contact with and made sure that their internship would in some way benefit both themselves and the campaign Show less
