Jan 2018 - Jun 2021
Since taking over this management role within the Victorian operation, I have led a period of ongoing strong performance and growth across the Tunnels and Geotechnics operation. My team has grown from a headcount of about 40 to 53 in about 2 and half years.COVID-19 aside, one of the greatest changes we have been through during my period of management was the transition to Activity Based Working. My group was initially highly resistant to the change and there was concern that we would not adapt well come implementation. In order to combat this, I developed a system of incrementally developing self-efficacy among my group for the change. This involved identify key shifts involved in the change and implementing these elements progressively in line with a ‘road-map’ I developed to prepare the team for the transition. This resulted in us completing the transition successfully, and adapting well to the changed operational environment.During this time, I have received positive feedback from both my team and my management on my performance in various aspects of my role including communication, management of poor performance, approachability and positivity of messaging. Senior Geotechnical Engineer
-
Jan 2007 - Jun 2014
Having been with GHD since Early 2007, I have progressed through several levels and roles within the company, and specifically within the Geotechnical team in Sydney.During my time as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, I undertook what I would consider a typical progression – with a significant amount of my early career being dedicated to undertaking geotechnical investigation. As I progressed, the investigations I was entrusted with became more complex and challenging as I developed the trust of my peers and seniors in my ability to deliver on high pressure projects. As a Senior Engineer, my most pivotal role in terms of career progression was my time as GHD’s geotechnical site representative on the Greystanes Estate project. During this two-and-a-half-year role I was required to take a lead role in the site verification of the placement of about 1.6 Million cubic metres of fill for a quarry rehabilitation, along with the construction of a High-A hazard class dam.
