Travis is a highly skilled professional with a high level of knowledge in all areas that he works in. I am very confident in hiring him even in areas he is unfamiliar with, as he will learn them at very impressive speeds. Travis understands programming and art on equal levels, making him a professional whom I am proud to always work with no matter what my needs may be.

Travis is an out the box thinker, there are only a few of scripting/programming types that come out of our program and Travis is one of them. He challenged himself and took himself to a higher level which is displayed by using Torque in his portfolio reel. These are the traits industry professionals are looking for in a candiate.

Brought on as a developer to handle all aspects of game development from the client-side game engine to the server-side financial backend. Products ultimately delivered to a worldwide market and are played by millions. Responsible for setting and enforcing best practices and policies and leading by example. • Shipped around 20 games on worldwide web and mobile platforms. Most of these games have brought in millions of dollars in revenue each. Also led development on a title which set a new company-wide record for revenue at launch. • Enhanced development capability and flexibility by leading the architecture and development of the company’s latest proprietary WebGL-based client-side game engine (written in TypeScript), used to ship about a dozen games so far. • Reduced development cost and time as well as improved on overall solution quality by implementing Continuous Integration, code standards and code review processes. • Extended external codebase (C++) with required features during overseas trip to South Africa. Learned the (very large) codebase and implemented the new feature in 4 weeks. • Eliminated reliance on an external team for server-side enhancements by leading the architecture and development of a new backend system (Written in C#), which is now handled in-house. This cut the turnaround time of new features down from several months to a few weeks in most cases. • Enhanced source control configurability and ease-of-use by leading migration from an internal TFS to an internal GitLab setup for source control. • Responsible for interviewing and advisement on the hiring of multiple candidates who have since added significant value to the company. • Increased team efficiency by working directly with Technical Artists and Designers to establish a new workflow which reduced reliance on development and granted more control to design. A supply-chain management business unit of eBay, I was hired as technical support, quickly moved to Quality Assurance for just under 2 years where I handled bug tracking as well as testing of functionality, performance and reliability of the software. I then moved to the position of Implementation Engineer, responsible for deployments as well as custom, client-specific reporting stored procedures in Microsoft SQL.• Implemented custom data-mapping and system interconnectivity solutions for clients across a variety of systems, protocols and APIs. Also deployed proprietary drop-ship and ship-from-store software to client environments.• Improved internal workflow and synchronization of client data by developing a central hub, used company-wide.• Added to internal knowledgebase including the documentation of client customizations, workarounds and issues.• Provided advanced troubleshooting of system issues including, but not limited to, Windows Server, Windows Service, automated task, database, runtime and networking issues. Also doubled as internal “second-level” support of advanced issues as they arose. Show less

Brought in as a result of my work building a material editor for the Torque 3D engine, which did not have one at the time. I created a blog post about it on their website, where they took notice and brought me in to complete it. This was a fully remote position. • Increased productivity and resolved a pain point of not having a visual material editor in the engine by creating a UI and automating the scripting process which was used to create materials in the engine. This was mostly C++, with UI scripting work done in a proprietary scripting language. This tool is still present in the engine today. • Used SVN as the form of source control. Show less
