Bethesda is devoted to helping children and families heal from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse. Over the last six years, I increased the agency budget through community fundraising, grant writing and program development. These efforts resulted in the addition of three new full-time positions in response to the 30% increase in treatment services and the 150% increase in education services. I created the agency's first endowment fund, resulting in improved financial sustainability. I introduced the agency's first retirement-match benefit, resulting in improved employee retention. The agency now has a current and functional set of policies and procedures along with a revised employee and volunteer manual. I served as an expert witness for the Oklahoma State Legislator on multiple occasions, leading to the passage of Erin's Law (2015) and the formation of a task force on early childhood trauma (2018). I have published articles on the agency's growth and collaborations in local and state-wide publications. At the beginning of the 16-17 school year, Bethesda expanded its treatment services through a collaboration with Norman Public Schools. Today, Bethesda provides an outreach counselor at each of the middle and high schools, bringing treatment to students that experienced any form of sexual abuse. Starting in 2020, Bethesda expanded its outreach therapy services to Mustang Public Schools. In this way, Bethesda brings the healing to the students that need it most. Bethesda's education program, Stop, Go and Tell, expanded from nearly 5,000 students in 2014 to over 24,000 in 2020. Our education team reaches students in Norman, Moore, Oklahoma City, Yukon, Guthrie, Mid-Del City, Stillwater, Broken Arrow, and surrounding communities. Bethesda was a finalist for the 2017 Oklahoma Nonprofits of Excellence Award through the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. To learn more about Bethesda and to donate, visit www.bethesdaOK.org. Adjunct Instructor
-
Aug 2007 - Jun 2019
Spanish Instructor for adult career and personal enrichment courses. I facilitate learning for adult students to acquire the ability to speak basic Spanish. I integrate experiential learning through active participation and games. Most importantly, I make sure we have fun!I have also translated for businesses training their employees on such things as sexual harassment prevention and reporting, job training and safety. As an adjunct instructor I teach Spanish Everyday I and II and Spanish for Bankers. I inherited the Spanish Everyday I curriculum, but over the years, I added games and activities to encourage students to practice the language. I went on to develop Spanish Everyday II, a more advanced course for students seeking additional instruction in Spanish. In 2017, I developed and taught Spanish for Bankers, an 8-week course for banking staff. The course equipped staff with useful phrases and conversational Spanish to better serve their customers. In 2018, I served as a translator for a corporate client needing employee training. I translated for the instructor to four separate classes of Spanish-speaking employees. Show less

As the Healthy Out-of-School Time Manager of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation I supported out-of-school time organizations and afterschool programs in the OKC Metro area that desired to improve in the areas of healthy eating and physical activity. I provided resources and technical assistance to make their goals possible and assist in a six-step process of site analysis and improvement. I worked with 40 sites in six organizations touching the lives of 2,800 students. Additionally, I created a welcome packet for self-directed sites to implement improvements without direct support expanding the reach of the organization. I provided workshops and presentations to assist 27 sites through a grant application process resulting in 100% fund approval. Show less

Administrative Assistant
-
Jun 2007 - Feb 2010
Working at Health for Friends provided me the opportunity to develop my skills in numerous fields (in local non-profit, you wear many hats). I wrote numerous grants to support clinic objectives, maintained grant funding reports and expectations, developed a clinic matrix for data collection, improved volunteer tracking and scheduling, organized volunteer training opportunities, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, annual audits, fiscal improvement plans, development, and building maintenance. I appreciate the experience I gained at Health for Friends because it built my confidence as a problem solver no matter what the challenge or lack of resources. Show less
