I supervise our office of 5 Project Engineers/Project Managers and 9 Technicians who perform construction inspection and material testing on highway projects. Our office is estimated to administer over $100M in contracts per year over the next 5 years. In this role, I especially enjoy being able to see projects come together and allowing the public to use new or rehabilitated infrastructure.

    • Region Bridge Engineer
      • Feb 2015 - Feb 2020

Qualified NBIS Team Leader for bridge inspection. Performed initial, routine, in-depth, and damage inspections on structures on the state system in the Mitchell Region. Qualified to perform inspections on Nonredundant Steel Tension Members (formerly Fracture Critical Members). Took the NHI Bridge Inspection Refresher course in December 2022 to maintain Team Leader qualifications.I worked with another inspector to use existing GPS data along with bridge types, equipment requirements, and inspection due dates to optimize our inspection schedules for all 589 structures on our inventory. With this, we also developed electronic maps that were accessible by all inspectors in the region to show which bridges were to be inspected in each of the 3 upcoming months. In September 2019, we received nearly 12" of rain over a 36 hour period, resulting in widespread flooding. I quickly developed a map of scour critical bridges in that area so inspection efforts could be used as efficiently as possible. While working in this position, I developed a few Excel macros to work with existing spreadsheets maintained by the bridge office to improve accuracy and productivity within the office. These are still in use by others. Show less
