      Tracy Townsend joined the staff of the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) in January 2007, which is now a division within the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The Alabama State Agency is responsible for gathering and providing critical information for law enforcement and the criminal justice community. In her position as the ACJIC Coordinator, Townsend is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the CJIS Administration Division which includes: investigations, training, auditing, and account management of the ALEA CJIS systems. She also previously served as the agency’s Information Security Officer (ISO) and is responsible for overseeing the security, training and certification on the proper use of the F.B.I.’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system by authorized state, local and federal law enforcement agencies. Townsend also serves as the Director of the Alabama Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) which is responsible for compiling and publishing annual statistics on the nature and extent of crime in Alabama. Ms. Townsend received both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Jacksonville State University, where she also served as a criminal justice instructor. She graduated from the Northeast Alabama Police Academy and is a sworn Alabama law enforcement officer. Show less
