No longer in this position but teaching at the post-secondary level afforded me so many wonderful opportunities to mentor students as well as learn skills in developing curriculum, delivering assessments, measuring outcomes, creative pedagogy and so much more. Being a part of higher education requires skills in communication, organization, program evaluation, ideation, strategic thinking, teamwork, clinical expertise, and trends in health care to name a few. When I was asked to apply for an opening on the pastoral team, I rewrote the job description to fit my skills, experiences, and inherent talents. My orientation is toward growth and improvement and aligning actions and practices to the stated mission and values and it was with this in mind that I crafted my role. The revised role was approved and I was hired as part of the pastoral team. During my time in this role, I helped to achieve greater alignment between day-to-day practices… Show more When I was asked to apply for an opening on the pastoral team, I rewrote the job description to fit my skills, experiences, and inherent talents. The revised role was approved and I was hired as part of the pastoral team. During my time in this role, I helped to achieve greater alignment between day-to-day practices and priorities to the values and the mission of the church. Other responsibilities included starting and sustaining a small group system (Dinner Groups), an assimilation plan, regular public speaking (teaching), as well as providing leadership to a significant building improvement expansion. The best part of this sacred work was helping people to discover their God-given potential and providing coaching to facilitate personal growth and movement.
