I have taught most of the psychosocial and behavioral health nursing in this associate degree nursing program . I teach in the classroom, nursing skills laboratory and at clinical sites in hospitals and community settings. I am committed to de-stigmatizing mental illness, and in my attempt to do this I bring in NAMI speakers, use the simulation training "Hearing Voices that are Distressing" and have asked individuals with various behavioral health diagnosis to speak to students. I familiarize students with a variety of community support and advocacy organizations such as Fellowship Place, AA, Advocacy Unlimited, and CT Legal Rights Project. I have also served as faculty advisor to the Gateway Outdoor Club. Show less
