Lead Digital Applications Developer

Assumed a new Technical Lead role within Greenbank Holidays, initially as as part of a major re-platforming project for the core websites and booking system, encompassing all major brands. My day-to-day job incorporated application design and development, team mentoring and maintaining best practices, as well as DevOps engineer responsibilities. I worked with a full breadth of knowledge in terms of product and domain requirements, and did so following aspects of Scrum and Agile methodologies. My goals were to constantly drive forward and question technical practices and processes in order to maintain momentum on projects, ensuring that deliverables met stakeholder expectations, and were of the best quality. I was involved in planning our organisational roadmap from a technical standpoint, and helping to ensure the successful delivery of valuable projects. Projects included reservation system replatforming (ASP.NET, minor involvement with React) and DevOps migrations / pipeline setup (GitHub/TeamCity), as well as the day-to-day implementation and rollout of new product features in the context of ever-growing brand and multi-market offerings. Projects also included API functionality both as provider and consumer (.NET Core, REST, GraphQL, Node.js) with partners such as Google Hotels. Projects also included a shift to a microservices based architecture for our core customer-facing applications, and I worked to help design both the short and longer term approach to this, including the hands-on implementation of services, integrations and new DevOps pipelines to realise it (.NET Core / 5, GitHub Actions).
