      The Solar Decathlon Europe is an international competition in which universities from all over the world meet to design, build and operate an energetically self-sufficient house, grid-connected, using solar energy as the only energy source and equipped with all of the technologies that permit maximum energy efficiency.The UPC 2010 team developed and constructed during 2 years (2008-2010) the LOW3 prototype solar house with the collaboration of over 100 students, 50 companies and 15 faculties at Barcelona Tech.LOW3 won a (shared) first prize in the Architecture Contest of Solar Decathlon Europe 2010, The Spanish Solar Prize 2010 by EUROSOLAR, and the Banc Sabadell Innovation Award 2012 at the Vallès Bienal of Architecture.More information under: www.low3.upc.edu Show less
