Oscar Wylee is a renowned optometry store known for its exceptional quality and wide selection of stylish glasses, ranging from modern to vintage designs. With over 120+ store locations across Australia, it offers customers the opportunity to find the perfect frame that not only suits their style but also provides maximum comfort. During my role as an optical dispenser at Oscar Wylee, I was responsible for conducting pre-tests for patients prior to their comprehensive eye health check with the optometrist. These pre-tests involved utilising advanced equipment such as the DRS machine, a non-mydriatic fundus camera that captures digital images of the central retina without the need for pupil dilation. Additionally, I operated the Autorefractor machine, which accurately determined each individual's prescription by measuring the light's reflection through the eyeball. In addition to my optometry duties, I also possess experience in utilising various software applications, including Excel for Bulk Bill and Magento. On a daily basis, I efficiently managed appointments for both walk-in customers and those making bookings over the phone. I was responsible for dispensing frames, processing prescription orders through the online software, and utilising EFTPOS machines for seamless transactions. Furthermore, I handled tasks such as unpacking deliveries, unboxing orders, and ensuring shipment was processed online which notified customers of their order readiness for in-store collection. With my comprehensive experience in optical dispensing, proficiency in software applications, and commitment to providing exceptional customer service, I am well-equipped to contribute to Oscar Wylee's continued success and provide customers with an outstanding eyewear experience. During my service as a juror, I had the privilege of being a part of a carefully selected team of 12 individuals from the community. As a juror, our responsibility was to determine questions of fact and apply the law, as instructed by the judge, to reach a verdict. I was specifically enlisted for a murder trial case, where the jury panel was tasked with deciding the defendant's guilt or innocence. This experience provided me with a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how court proceedings unfold in real time, beyond the pages of books. I observed the trial proceedings, with both the plaintiff and defendant present in the same courtroom. It was a valuable learning experience that not only expanded my knowledge of the legal system but also allowed me to fulfill my duty as a responsible member of the community. Throughout the duration of the trial, I attended court every day from 9 am to 5 pm. While some days the proceedings were shorter than anticipated, the deliberation period did not take our panel long to reach a decision. Overall, the experience of serving as a young juror was truly phenomenal, providing me with a deeper understanding of the justice system and the important role that jurors play in ensuring a fair and just outcome. • Work Experience - Magistrates' Court of Victoria
      • Jul 2018 - Aug 2018

During my work experience at the Magistrates Court of Victoria, I had the unique opportunity to witness a variety of court proceedings, including drug court, family violence cases, and matters involving victims of abuse. One significant experience was being present during the early stages of the case of Borce Ristevski, who was charged with manslaughter and later pleaded guilty in the murder trial. Observing these trials at a young age ignited my passion for pursuing a career in the legal field. In my role as a Junior Legal Assistant, I provided valuable support to my mentors and performed various tasks essential to the smooth functioning of the court. This included general administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning, handling mail, and running errands, including collecting files from different offices within the court. Additionally, I had the opportunity to assist the receptionist in scheduling meetings and preparing external correspondence. One of the highlights of my experience was sitting next to the court clerk, who meticulously recorded every detail discussed in the court proceedings. Working at the Magistrates Court allowed me to gain profound knowledge about the legal profession and provided insights into the responsibilities associated with working within the court system. By maintaining a high level of professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a keen sense of awareness, I felt privileged to collaborate with professionals who had established careers in the legal field. This experience deepened my understanding of the legal profession and further motivated me to pursue a rewarding career in this domain. Show less
