  Cairns real estate ‘King’ returns with new lease on life A passion for property has brought one of Cairns’ most successful brokers back to build a new branch in one of the most competitive real estate markets in Australia. Tony Williamson will officially launch Harcourts Property Centre Cairns next week, adding another chapter to a storied career spanning across five decades. The former Re/Max Cairns principal sold the business in 2019 before serving as Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation’s CEO for two years. But following retirement, Mr Williamson, said the thrill of closing a deal still invigorated him. Affectionately known as ‘the King’ in social circles, Mr Williamson retired from real estate once before in 2006 but returned after joining Re/Max in 2010. “That was coming out of the GFC and we were able to building the biggest real estate office in regional Queensland,” he said. “We employed 45 staff at our peak.” Mr Williamson has previously served as chairperson and a board member of the Northern Pride.
