I was selected as the IT representative from Australia Post to work at the Commonwealth Games. I was seconded to the Commonwealth Games for 4 months. During this time I successfully managed more than 650 staff and volunteers and liaised with external vendors, government departments and other sections within the Commonwealth Games. It was an extremely fast paced environment necessary to achieve the project outcomes on time and within budget. Meeting a non-movable project deadline. Making critical decisions "on the spot" due to insufficient time and information to fully evaluate the options available. The rapid pace of change required, and continually struggling with competing priorities through out the day, and trying to ensure minimal impact to the project schedule Managed highly stressed & over worked staff Managed the deployment of 30,000 technology items, predominantly in the final two weeks leading up to the start of the games. Commonwealth Games requested to extend my secondment in order to manage project closure. I was the only seconded IT person to be extended past their original tenure. Show less

The Computer facility supported over 40,000 staff and 12,000+ point of sale terminals in more than 4,600 retail outlets.Significant upgrades of major systems were undertaken (SAP, Microsoft exchange) and a complete shutdown of the primary computer facility and fail over to the backup site was undertaken for Business Continuity testing. The upgrades and primary facility shutdown was performed with no unplanned system outages, and Service availability was maintained at 99.9% for the business critical systems. Show less
