Our program concludes with an E-sports event filled with competition and a showcase of student designed games. During our pilot year, we at Tenfold discovered that while E-Sports increased student engagement...Game Design and Gaming journalism did the same while fulfilling STEAM Criteria. Teaching students about iteration through utilizing software, virtual reality workshops, learning how to code, creating/ designing original characters and environments, creating blogs about their individual processes provided minimums for their Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math requirements. So far the Tenfold Gaming Initiative has been featured in the Village Voice (http://www.villagevoice.com/news/21st-century-sports-inside-east-new-york-s-competitive-gaming-scene-8751717) has generated four E-Sports events (in East New York, the New School, and at Hostos College in the Bronx), facilitated Scholastic/Parsons College game design/VR workshops, and has introduced our students to allies at Microsoft, Local Projects, the NYU Game Center, and the NYU Assistive Tech Lab.
