Bio
Andreas Aardal Hanssen
I worked closely with Tony for 5 years, learning how to create intuitive and visually attractive user interfaces for Cisco's video conferencing gear. Tony is a highly liked, wonderful people manager (on his final day at Cisco, being recognized as the best manager ever by his own reports), and is truly respected for his deep work on design and concepting. He works with all aspects of customer experience and has made his mark on virtually all products we have shipped. Tony is, simply put, the best interaction designer I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Tony strides with an aura of calm and confidence, typically wandering about with his Mac, eager to sit down and share ideas, and gather input from his stakeholders and coworkers. His prime motive is to create the best experience for the users. If there is one skill of Tony's that I truly appreciate though, it's his rational mind. Tony has worked with a wide variety of personalities, be them engineers, product managers and leads, and manages to quickly conjure up smart, practical solutions, even in the most stressful and conflicting situations. He is simply inspiring; seeing Tony in the hallways makes you want to do a good job. I truly miss him and hope the very best for him.

I worked with Tony on a few different design projects related TelePresence during our time together at Cisco. I can't say enough about Tony's integrity and professionalism. Projects at large companies like Cisco can be fraught with bureaucracy and issues that are outside the control of the people actually doing the work. Not only is he a top notch designer, but he is a leader who gets things done while improving the lives of those who served with him under stressful circumstances. I'd recommend him to anyone.
