Seeing the development of people and particularly managers, the most successful managers strive to develop skills that will empower them to lead effectively. For me Tony, developed all the necessary skills that makes him a great manager and leader of people. Communication skills Tony is able to convey his points clearly and concisely so each team member knows exactly what is expected of them. It’s just as important to be able to listen to constructive feedback and concerns, and to mediate misunderstandings. A skill no doubt enhanced from his days in the military. Work ethic One thing Tony ensures for his team members is a healthy work ethic that places value on working hard and performing at their best. Working to his full potential he sets a good example for employees to follow and encourages them to adopt positive work habits. Goal-oriented Tony demonstrated that he is competent in setting achievable goals and creating strategies to meet those goals. He truly understands the SMART principle as was one of very few who continued this line of best practice knowing how important it is for employees. Industry knowledge As a manager Tony is more than able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the company and its place in the industry. He remained active in networking channels and continued to hone his skills through education and his workshops set a good example for employees to stay active and knowledgeable throughout their careers. Positive and inspirational In when faced of working in a toxic environment and negative work ethic culture, Tony strived to be a strong leader who encouraged teamwork. Always works to empower his team to succeed, making sure each member felt valued. Never afraid to seek feedback and input, always engaged with his team throughout the entire process for each project responsible for. Encouraging and supportive Despite the organization not wanting to follow Best Companies Methodology, Tony helped team members advance in their potential by giving them credit when performing well and highlighting their achievements in review meetings and performance reviews. Conflict resolution methods Competent and able to demonstrate strong conflict resolution skills since every team often has multiple personalities. He understands how to mediate disagreements and resolve conflict in a way that makes everyone feel valued is essential to keeping projects on track and morale at a peak. Role model Being a role model for a team can help them develop the valuable skills needed to excel at their jobs. Tony is an effective role model, who exhibits qualities he expects from his team, such as honesty, transparency and the willingness to take on additional responsibility.
