  As CFO, I am responsible for the financial management of the Life division which is largely represented by a registered life insurance company, Challenger Life Company Limited. CLC is Australia’s largest writer of annuity business with over AUD10 billion in assets and 65,000 policyholders. Responsibilities include monthly statutory and management reporting (including asset and liability valuations), performance measurement, budgeting and business planning.This role also includes managing CLC’s operating environment, including managing internal service providers, liaison with the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA, the regulator), policies and procedures, compliance and operational risk.As Appointed Actuary, I am responsible for fulfilling the statutory requirements of the role and providing advice to other senior management and the Board regarding the financial position of CLC, including pricing, investment strategies and transactions, statutory capital, internal capital measures, profit, business forecasts and reinsurance. I am also responsible for product development and the monitoring of financial risk.
