  o Responsibilities include, but not limited to, performing H&P’s and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests through EMR, making preliminary diagnosis and treating patients presenting with acute medical, surgical, and psychiatric emergencies. o Collaboratively working with board certified emergency medicine physicians to provide emergency care to 60,000 patients annually in the emergent and fast-track areas of the department. o Ability to perform diagnostic procedures including endotracheal intubations, nasogastric intubation, nasal packing for epistaxis, management of burns, suturing and routine care of superficial wounds, splinting of sprains and fractures, venipuncture, central lines, and I&D’s. o Training new hires and precepting physician assistant students. o Training in the Emergency Medicine simulation laboratory and working in the Urgent care area of the emergency department at Jacobi Medical Center. o Referring patients to appropriate specialists, health facilities, agencies and resources. Also referring and conversing with appropriate consultants in regard to patient management.

  o Complete full medical history and physical examinations on both new and established patients with new or existing conditions. o Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic/laboratory studies and initiate treatment plan. o Transmit patient information orally and through patient progress notes to supervising physician. o Instruct and counsel patients and their families, and involve them in informed decision making with regards to their illness or injury, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, treatment regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. o Facilitate appropriate referrals of patients to other medical providers or medical facilities. o Performing pain management procedures such as therapeutic trigger point injections. As well as therapeutic intra articular injections.
