Although my job was eliminated, I learned a great deal about the government contracting industry, learning from the experts about turning in winning proposals for military government jobs throughout the country. I also helped resurrect the company's newsletter, which had been in hiatus for five or so years.

    • TechTalk editor
      • Aug 2008 - Feb 2009

Produced a weekly section all about technology, called TechTalk - first in the business section of the newspaper and recently in the features section after The Pilot terminated its daily business section. Pick out content, edit, and write what is needed. Scour online sites and the wires for anything interesting about technology that wouldn't run in the daily business section. This 5-page section was about educating and entertaining readers when it comes to technology in our lives - not so much the newsy side, such as the bankruptcy of Circuit City. Parts of the pages, which actually went down to three when it switched to the features section, include a lead story, reviews of tech items, game reviews, game features, interesting Web pages to visit and miscellaneous featury news items. Work with hundreds of teen correspondents over the years, not only writers, but photographers, graphic illustrators and other artists. Produced content and edited all stories, held meetings every other month to teach these young adults the ins and outs of journalism, not only for print, but produced podcasts, online content, and a TV show with Cox Communications.
